Blog of Final Freedomness - me at my pretentious best

Good evening people!

So, this is it. 31st August... wow. After at least three months of being (technically) off school, it's about bloody time to go back. It's a scary thought, but I did miss it after a couple of months. After all, friends are friends. And what better time and place to see them all joined together in suave, [mostly] new uniforms? :)

By the way, the 'mostly new' was pointed toward the male uniform. I've heard some of the females (well, ok, ONE) complain about their uniform's indecency..but hey, we are THE SIXTH FORM! This is THE time of our life to have fun. And I suppose a bit of studying too. Gulp. But don't let that flood everything!

I suppose the purpose of this blog is to take the role of a retirement home resident, and say: We are sixteen. We are at our physical and, in most cases, mental best. Whatsmore, we have more fun at this age! Yes, even me. BRING ON THE NEW ERA! [man I sound like one of the new Gladiators!]

So much for me to look forward to. The fact that I'm doing my best subjects ONLY, the new school play, library work (well... jury's out on that one!), girls in miniskirts... I kid about the last one. Not that I'm not looking forward to the new uniform aspect of it... or the miniskirt aspect of it...

DISCLAIMER: This self-dug hole is trademark Jimbob's. Come, say, tomorrow, I will regret typing this, but I currently don't. Go figure.

I suppose that over this holiday, I've learned things. For instance, having absolutely nothing to worry about is great... but too much of it leads to boredom. Personally, I need things to plague my mind in order for me to... well, work.

I've learned that fun can be had in the simpler things in life, like comforting a friend in need. Sure, not the whole 'laugh-out-loud' WOOOO fun, but there's no better feeling than having people listen to you and take your advice, and even come out better from it.

(At this point, I'd like to point out that I don't take FULL praise from those that do slightly benefit. As much as I'd like to.)

I've learned that passion can come from many sources. The little things that make you who you are, friends, family, the people you love... and donuts. (Sorry, I thought this whole thing was getting too much like JD's final speeches on "Scrubs", so I thought I'd add a little humour).

Speaking of humour, I've also learned that it can light up pretty much EVERY situation. Go on, try it. Even if it's not the previously mentioned "laugh-out-loud WOOOO" funny, there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with a little optimism in the darker situations. Nothing at all.

I've enjoyed my two outings, to Spain with the Kerrs, and to London with my uncle and grandparents. I've enjoyed playing video games (particularly Final Fantasy XII, New Super Mario Bros., and Super Smash Bros. Brawl).

Thanks to everyone that's made my summer.

BRING ON SEPTEMBER!
Hope you all had a good August.
And a good summer for that matter.
Love to all.

Blog of Rollercoasterness

Hey people! How's life?

I gathered that I haven't been on Blogspot in ten days! :O! (then again, it's not as if I had any comments to read... HINT ;>) and quite a lot's actually been going on! So, without further ado, here's yet another account of my life as of late.

Because sometime in the not-so-distant future, I'll become unboring. Promise!

So, in the past week or so, a rare thing happened to me... I had become ill. Considering, it's actually quite rare... but I felt dizzy and stuff - and it wasn't an excuse to get out of manual labour either (!) - and I suppose I've kept the souvenir cough to go with it :> BUT oh well. These things happen!

Then again, it's a good excuse to get to eat some Strepsils and drink some nice blackcurrant-flavoured Lemsip drinks :) well, ok, they're a BIT strong, especially as you get near the bottom of the undissolved pool of paracetamol and other DRUGS... but they're pleasant (enough) accompaniments to get one through their flueyness.

And sticking on the subject of not-so-good news, Tilly split up with me. There are reasons, for sure, but I don't know how to convey them into words. And sure, I'll miss her and what we had, but I'm glad she felt that she could tell me she was unhappy. Either way, it opened my eyes. I even wrote a song - and not one of those "she hates me so I might as well go admire some pleasant-looking razors" or "how could I have been so *bursts out crying*" songs either - and as soon as I put it to music, I'll take great pride in keeping it to myself. If you MUST have a theme though, throat sweets happen to crop up now and again in it (don't think it's 'coz I'm all mad - I was actually sucking on one when the deed was done).

I'm good at getting over things like this. Always look on the bright side of life *whistles musically* and all that. Please tell me you're okay though, at the very least :>.

And that's the sad Jimbob rant over. Checking expression *loading screen*..... it's highly moderate!

Time for the happy Jimbob - and what better place to start (and end) than the GCSE results?! And, including the maths GCSE I had got from last year (unfortunately), I have 3 A* grades, and 6 A's. WOOO! I'm pretty happy :> It also bases perfectly around what I want to do next year: maths, chemistry, spanish and physics (physics coming last in the list for not being an A* grade, grrr.)

Often, I get asked: "So what would you like to be when you grow up?" and if I'm not snorting milk out of my nose as a result, I'll probably answer either psychology or philosophy. Both definitely interest me, perhaps the latter more (I mean, it's a subject about the formings of logic - and I like to think I write rather philosophically... answers on a postcard). But at least with these subjects, my options are still open. Plus I've got spanish because it purely interests me, although chances are that's getting dropped after next year.

But yes - I didn't do as badly as I thought I did. So I'm dead happy!

And happy I remain. Hope you enjoyed this blog, and I hope it made you think things.
I like to think I have that effect on people.
If there is such a thing.

Bon visage, Jimbob xxxx

Blog of the near futureness

Hey everybody!

So what to blog about today? Well, as I have a lot going on in the next week, I thought I'd do something rare for me and look ahead at what's to come like some mediocre daytime TV show, instead of dwell on the past like some documentary.

Just don't expect any special guests. What do you think I am, Eamonn bloody Holmes?

Let's start with tomorrow. There's a half-baked plan about me and a few friends meeting to do something of which we don't know yet. But, if that's cancelled (chances are), then I'll probably be at home with my DS playing Mario Bros. (dunno why they call it that, when you can only play as Mario... or Luigi, should you happen to press two random buttons at a given time...) or Final Fantasy XII on the PS2.

If you want an insight into the soundtrack of FFXII, go on www.gamefaqs.com and go: PS2, Final Fantasy XII, FAQs, Soundtrack FAQ by Jimbob1192. You can also find it on supercheats.com, but that makes things more complicated.

[Of course, you're presumably sane, so why would you want to look in the first place? :)]

Anyway, then that brings Thursday - one of the days I have been waiting for since gosh knows when... the day I get my Maths AS modular results! And to be honest, I'm not too worried. At least not until I step through the school gates. Plus, the following Thursday will be even MORE scary, what with eight GCSEs being given and whatnot.

As for Friday, the Cotswoldians are coming to stay for a few days (till Monday XD). Not sure what we'll be doing! We've already given them a guided tour of Wisbech, and after that thirty seconds is up, what happened? Well, in all honesty, I cannot remember :) but I'm sure whatever it was was fun.

*braces self for lots of big hugs*

[To Jack or Stan: remember to trade your Darkrai with me, please?]

And with that in mind, I shall end this critically-acclaimed "meh" blog. Have a good summer, what little time of it we have left.

And good luck for the Maths-nerds getting their results with me this Thursday!

[[don't worry, I'll wish the GCSE-getters good luck as well nearer the time, should I remember.]]

Blog of London-ness

Hey everybody!

Well, I'm back home from Chez Yiayia and Papu, and I'm nakered. :) Want a blog out of it? Well, as I said, I'm nakered.

That's why I'm creating this blog of nothing. Hope you enjoyed it.

If you want to find out about it, not that you realistically will, but you'll probably ask out of politeness. That's what everybody does... them I'll tell ya then.

I would say you have been "Rick Rolled", but there's no music. Apologies for that.

And, normally, I would include some anecdotes. So imagine this: a chicken on stilts, only it's fatter than a really blown-up balloon. That's how I feel after all the Greek food :>

Missed y'all, can't wait to talk to you.
A currently half-hearted goodbye, Jimbob xxxxx

KPHTH fever :>

HEY! :) Happy new(ish) August!

Another blog, another.... blog. And what better time than before I go off to London to see my Greek gramps. So what did I do today, apart from pack? I watched one of those BBC "Learn Zone" things they do at awful hours of the morning. Thank goodness for Sky+!

And due to lack of a better topic, I'll rant about how helpful and ridiculous it was.

When I'm determined, it's safe to say I'm determined. So when I told my mother "OOOO! TAPE IT!" I was fully aware that I ought to get a pen and paper and take down some words. Hopefully, four sides of A4 will be enough.

The show itself was, well, not ideal, let's say. For instance, the word for "yes" was told in episode 6 of 6. Way to go, programme editor. On top of that, inbetween the useful vocabulary sessions, there were "fun" stories about Greek culture and people. This was the basis of the six episode "use of two hours".

However, it was mainly based on holidays in Greece, and not so much the arguably more useful learning the language.

Let me explain; typically, you'd expect your foreign language show to teach you how to describe different aspects. For instance, I'm sure, after seeing "Talk Greek" (that was its name, I'm not that mental) that with the best stuff condensed in two hours, you could at least talk fluently about "my name is, I am from, I like..." stuff.

Instead, I can now go to London to see Yiayia (Greek for grandmother, i suspect) and ask her when the next boat arrives. Useful? Judge for yourself.

Also, there's the matter of how they used the time. You'd normally have about two minutes of watching people use particular sayings to get to their desired destination (it's pretty bad, watching someone order a salad while the waiter - who obviously ISN'T a waiter - nod like a TOOL and return, repeating the word for a salad.), but then there's about four minutes of completely unrelated cultural stories. Like, you're watching some antics at a cafe, when suddenly you've got someone talking about how deadly a nearby volcano is, before moving on to learning the language about politeness at the dinner table, or whatever.

And, I won't lie, some of it was pretty useful, and I can see myself using it. Other times... when I ask where the hairdresser's is and am told to turn right one hundred yards down the road... that's when i saved the ink in the biro.

THERE'S MORE! There was the Sesame Street aspect; the 'adding a letter to a word until you guess what it is' every episode. When I saw the first episode and saw a letter A floating, I thought, oh come on... I'm not a bloody child, you patronising... grrr...

But that's the criticism side out of the way.

It taught me some decent vocabulary, like please, thank you, etc etc... the boring stuff that I can use with my grandparents so that they can see how good I am :S

Well, how "adequate at the most basic stuff" I am.

And I might as well end my blog there. See you all Saturday.
Miss ya all, Jimbob xxx

(PS: the title of the blog? KPHTH is actually Greek lettering for "Crete". That's where my family are from in Greece XD)
